Covid-19 Relief Work in Paasam-Flame

The Friars in Dindigul under the banner of PAASAM-FLAME with the help of our Parish Priest at Kurusady, Dindigul, helped the needy (daily labourers, blind people and marginalised) and distributed Rice bags for around 102 families on 10-04-2020. With the financial support from the Province, around 148 families (coolies, dhobis, domestic workers, sanitation workers and families from nomad and dalit communities) from Kallupatty, Maruthasipuram, Vedappatti, Mottanampatti and Oli Nagar, have been supported with relief materials.

We also received some material and financial help from our well-wishers to support destitute homes: Karunai Illam at Kodai road and Vizhudugal at Siluvathur road. We distributed 35 bags of rice (25 kags each) to the above-mentioned homes.

PAASAM-FLAME helped it’s regular beneficiaries (adults and children living and affected with HIV/AIDS) with 25 kgs of rice instead of the normal 15 kgs. With the help of the staff and volunteers we distributed the food materials at PAASA Illam and also visited few blocks (Vedachandur, Eriodu and Natham) in the district and distributed the materials to the beneficiaries.

So far we were able to reach out: 148 families (coolies, dhobis, nomad and dalit families), 2 destitute homes, 4 – persons for medical help, 123 HIV/AIDS infected clients and their families. We are yet to reach out around 150 families in the coming days.

We have been informing about the relief work to the needy and the beneficiaries to the Collector of Didigul. We give the details of our visits and the name of the area where we distribute the materials to the special cell in the collector’s office and in coordination with the special cell we move to the places without any difficulty and distribute the materials.
