Invitation from the Bishop of Sultanpet Diocese

The Latin Catholic Diocese of Sultanpet, Palakkad, Kerala, was erected on 28th December 2013. This new diocese is divided mostly from the Diocese of Coimbatore (16 Parishes) and of Calicut (5 parishes). Rev. Peter Abir Antonisamy  is its first bishop. The Diocese has 25 Parishes and 23 priests at present. Malayalam and Tamil are the main languages used in the liturgy. This is completely a rural area and almost 98 percent of the population are agriculturists or agricultural labourers.

As the follow up of the Minister Provincial’s meeting with the Bishop of Sultanpet at NBCLC, Bengaluru and further mail correspondences between them, the Bishop invited Fr. Praveen D’Souza, the Minister Provincial to visit his diocese on 01 December 2016. At the request of the Provincial, Friars Charles Bernard and Xavier Durairaj met the Bishop of Sultanpet, Most Rev. Peter Abir on 01 December 2016 at the Bishop’s House, Palakkad.
