MISSION
5th Day– 29th September
Hymn
Come build my church
Come build my church it’s falling to ruin
That’s what the father tells me to do
Give stones and mortars let build together
The lowly house of God.
To every town and village and valley
Preach what the Good Lord had done for us
Tell of his mercies sing of his love
Let man glorify his name.
Be poor in spirit and in your living
Live like the larks and doves up above
Care not for what this world can provide for us
Trust in God’s loving care.
Praised be the lord (3)
Oh my soul o praise the lord praise the lord.
Psalmody
Ant. 1 “Francis, go and repair my house, which as you see, is all being destroyed.” (LM 2:1)
Psalm 72
O God give your judgment to the king
To a king’s son you justice,
That he may judge your people in justice
And your poor in right judgement.
May the mountain bring forth peace for the people
And the hills justice
May he defend the poor of the people
And save the children of the needy
And crush the oppressors.
He shall endure like the sun and the moon
From age to age
He shall descend like rain on the meadow
Like raindrops on the earth.
In his days justice peace shall flourish
And peace till the moon fails
He shall rule from sea to sea
From the great river to the earth’s bounds.
Before him his enemies shall fall
His foes lick the dust
The king of Tarshish and the sea coast
Shall pay him tribute
The king of sheba and seba
Shall bring him gift.
Before him all king shall fall prostrate
All nations shall serve him.
Ant. 1 “Francis, go and repair my house, which as you see, is all being destroyed.” (LM 2:1)
Ant. 2 As I am the servant of all, I am bound to wait upon everyone and make known to them the fragrant words of my Lord Jesus Christ. (II LF 2)
He shall save the poor when they cry
And the needy who are helpless
He will have pity on the weak
And save the lives of the poor.
From oppression he will rescue their lives
To him their blood is dear
Long may he live
May the gold of sheba be given him
They shall pray for him without ceasing
And bless him all the day.
May corn be abandoned in the land
To the peaks of the mountain
May its fruit rustle like Lebanon
May men flourish in the cities
Like grass on the earth.
May his name be blessed forever
And endure like the sun
Every tribe shall be blessed in him
All nations bless his name
Blessed be the lord God of Israel
Who alone works wonders
Ever blessed his glorious name
Let his glory fill the earth
Amen Amen.
Ant. 2 As I am the servant of all, I am bound to wait upon everyone and make known to them the fragrant words of my Lord Jesus Christ. (II LF 2)
Ant. 3 And now that we have left the world we are to follow the will of the Lord and please him in our work and deed. (ER XXII.9)
We praise you the Lord God almighty
Who is and who was
You have assumed your great power
You have began your reign.
The nations have raged in anger
But then came the day of wrath
And the moment judged the death
The time to reward your servants the prophets
And the holy ones who revere you
The great and the small alike
Now have salvation and power come
The reign of our God and his authority
Of his anointed one
For the accuser of our brother is cast out
Who night and day accused them before God.
They defeated him by the blood of the lamb
And by the word of their testimony
Love for life did not deter them from death
So rejoice you heavens
And you that dwelt therein.
Ant. 3 And now that we have left the world we are to follow the will of the Lord and please him in our work and deed. (ER XXII.9)
Scripture Reading (Genesis 12:1-3)
The Lord said to Abram: Go out from your land, your relatives, and your father's house to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you; I will curse those who treat you with contempt.
Responsory
V/ Do not be afraid, little flock, for it has pleased the Father to give you the Kingdom.
R/ Sing: Whatsoever you do to the least of my people that you do unto me.
V/ As stewards of God’s love, we are called to share our gifts and talents with others for the service of God.
R/Sing: Whatsoever you do to the least of my people that you do unto me.
V/ Glory be to the Father...
R/Sing: What so ever you do to the least of my people that you do unto me.
Magnificat Ant. When the brothers go through the world, they should carry nothing for the journey, neither a knapsack nor a purse, nor bread, nor money, nor a staff and in whatever house they enter, let them first say: peace to this house.
Intercessions
Lord the church is called to witness among the nations your son’s love, so that, all may experience the joy of your kingdom. Res: Lord, strengthen us in our Gospel mission.
Lord, provide all Christians, especially the religious of our land with the necessary zeal they need in proclaiming Christ as our true saviour.
As good and faithful servants of your son, may we work among the poor, the neglected and the downtrodden.
Make us obedient to the teachings of the apostles that we may be true missionaries in word and deed.
Centred on the Eucharist, let us develop a faith community through prayer, education, worship and Christian fellowship.
Our Father...
Concluding Prayer
Oh God, you called us to be heralds of the good news by following the footsteps of our Holy Father Francis. Avoiding quarrels and idleness, let us bear witness to the fact that we are Christians. Inspired by you to work as missionaries let us be ready to lose our life for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ. Strengthened by your spirit may we profess our faith in your gospel in words and in deeds. Grant this through our lord Jesus Christ, your son, who lives and reigns with you and the holy spirit, one God forever and ever Amen.
Hymn
Let all proclaim to the glory of the father
That Jesus is Lord (2)
Let all proclaim to the glory of the father
That Jesus Christ is Lord.
Go to all the people proclaim my name to all
Make disciples everywhere baptise them in my name
Teach them to observe the things I taught you all along
Know that i am with you always until the end of time.
When in prayer you gather in two or three or more
I am there among you too to guide you all the time
You shall my witnesses throughout the Indian land
For my spirit shall go with you my strength in him you’ll find.
