ST. ANTHONY’S SEVA NILAYA

St. Anthony’s Seva Nilaya, known as St. Anthony’s Bread Centre, has been doing a wonderful job in Bengaluru. In 2003, Friar Trevor D’souza, OFM., began it in a very humble manner but now it has grown very big. Every day it provides free midday meal for about 150 hungry and deserving people. During the Covid 19, it was of great help to many people, especially the migrants workers. Last year, during the lockdown, every day about 750 people benefited from this Centre.

This year, during the lockdown, the Bread Centre was of great service to those people who did not have jobs and money. In such a situation packets of cooked food were distributed by our volunteers in front of the Cancer Hospital, St. John’s Hospital, Madiwala and Sudaguntapalya . Our provincial, Fr. Praveen D’souza, took special interest in getting these volunteers. The volunteers did this work with great interest and enthusiasm. The people were very grateful for the service we did for them.

The Bread Centre is not dependent on our Province. It is managed with the donations that we receive from the people. People appreciate this ministry. Therefore, they come forward to help us. Due to this Bread Centre none of those who are around our Friary go hungry. This is the miracle that God performs through St. Anthony here.
