CELEBRATION OF THE FEAST OF ST. ANTHONY OF PADUA AT TEL-AVIV

(Indian Chaplaincy in Holy Land, Malayalam Community)
Br. Abhishek M. OFM

Grace is a celebration of life with the communion of togetherness. The feast of St. Anthony of Padua was celebrated very grandly by the Indian chaplaincy in the Holy Land, by the Malayalam community at Tel-aviv, Israel. It was celebrated on 17th of June 2022 under the guidance of Fr. Pradeep, who is the shepherd and servant of the Indian chaplaincy in the Holy Land for the Malayalam community. The celebration was one stretch of experiences. It was well organized from beginning to end. We had a solemn entry and procession of the community, to the Holy Sanctuary. The Eucharist was celebrated by the VG of the Holy Land chaplaincy. At the celebration ten priests from all over the world were present. They were there in order to stand in solidarity with the people and to encourage them thereby sending out positive vibration. This enabled them to stand as one in communion with Christ. During the Eucharist celebration devotees of saint Anthony and those who had the saint as their patron were each given a crown of saint Anthony in thanksgiving for whatever service they rendered to the church and to mankind in the name of the saint. The feast was held on the weekend so that people would be able to celebrate the feast together; as a result of which there were many more people than expected. After the Mass we had a long procession through the streets with the protection of the cops. Saint Anthony was carried all around the street in sign of protection to mankind and the world. Once the procession ended Fr. Pradeep thanked the whole group who had rendered their service to celebrate the feast in a worthy manner and in various capacities. “The life of the body is the soul; the life of the soul is Christ.” (St. Anthony of Padua) After being enriched by the Body and Blood of Jesus and the final blessings we moved on to the fraternal meal. The food was delicious and tasty. All enjoyed their meals and everyone was happy and content with the food. On the whole, the feast of saint Anthony was very grand and well organized. All were happy by God's grace and we concluded our celebration with grateful hearts to God and to Saint Anthony for making our dream come true. "The wisdom of God is reflected in the face of the soul: she will see God as He is, and she will know as she is known." (St. Anthony of Padua) May the wisdom of God shine on each one of us who have participated in the celebration of the feast of Saint Anthony of Padua.
