On the sidelines of the Ordination of Br. Sujith, the friars of Shalom Friary inaugurated the momentous 800 anniversary of the Approval of the Franciscan Rule and the Celebration of Christmas with the Crib for the first time in Greccio. As the Franciscan Family worldwide has been celebrating this jubilee everywhere, the Franciscans in India are also eager to celebrate the Jubilee.
To mark the occasion, Cardinal Anthony Poola inaugurated the images depicting the jubilee – the approval of the rule and the Greccio event. These images will remain for the rest of the year reviving the memories of the origins of the Franciscan Order and the tradition of Christmas Crib.
Br. Praveen D Souza, the Parish Priest has planned various activities throughout this year to commemorate these two great events in the history of the Franciscans.
