Br. Andrew Thomas Commits Himself Forever to OFM

On 7 May 2023, Br Andrew Thomas made his perpetual profession in the hands of Br. Xavier Durariraj, Minister Provincial at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Ramnagar, Hyderabad. Hailing from this Parish, Br. Andrew Thomas’ solemn profession was an occasion of significant joy to the entire parish community. 

On the eve Solemn Profession, Br. Andrew Thomas took the Oath of Freedom in the presence of Br. Chinna, Guardian, Shalom Friary. He declared through this Oath that he was readily and willingly committing himself to live the Rule of St. Francis in the Order of Friars Minor as a lesser brother. 

This important event in the life of Br. Andrew shows his immense desire to lay down his life for Jesus Christ. He also renounced his property like St. Francis who stood before the Bishop renouncing all the family wealth and ties including what he was wearing at that time. Becoming thus free from any appropriations, Br. Andrew embraced the spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi. 

Br. Xavier Durairaj, in his homily, drew inspiration from the Gospel of the day and invited Br. Andrew to attain a close relationship with Jesus Christ so as to persevere in this way of life and carry out the mission in the footprints of St. Francis.
