On the 13th of June 2025, a significant and grace-filled event took place as 27 young brothers were formally received into postulancy during a solemn celebration of the Holy Eucharist. The ceremony, marked by deep reverence and joy, was presided over by Br. Xavier Durairaj, the Minister Provincial, who warmly welcomed the brothers into this initial stage of formation in the Franciscan Order.
In his inspiring homily, Br. Xavier addressed the young men with heartfelt words of encouragement. He called them to persevere faithfully in their vocation, reminding them that the journey ahead, though filled with challenges, is also rich in grace and meaning. Anchoring his message on the theme "A Call to See God's Reflection in All Creation", he invited the brothers to embark on a journey not just of external service, but of deep inner transformation.
He emphasized that the ability to recognize God’s image in creation and in others begins with the ability to recognize God’s image within oneself. "We are all created in God’s likeness," he said, "and unless we truly believe this about ourselves, we will struggle to see the divine in those around us." He further highlighted the richness of diversity, as the brothers came from various regions across India, bringing with them a multitude of languages, traditions, and cultural experiences. He encouraged them to see this diversity as a gift, a mirror of God's creative beauty, and to strive to build a fraternity rooted in mutual respect, understanding, and love.
The celebration was not just a formal rite of passage but a joyful moment of fraternity and hope. The newly entered postulants expressed their happiness and gratitude, as they now begin their first official step into the life and mission of the Franciscan Order. The ceremony concluded with heartfelt fraternal greetings and prayers, as the community gathered around the new postulants to offer their blessings and support.
This day marks the beginning of a new chapter in their lives—a chapter of discernment, formation, and fraternity, grounded in the Gospel and in the footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi, whose vision continues to inspire men and women to embrace a life of simplicity, service, and joy.
