A spirit-filled and grace-filled celebration marked the Diaconate Ordination of four Franciscan brothers, as they took a significant step forward in their journey towards priesthood. The solemn Eucharistic celebration was held at Kristu Jyoti Chapel, Bengaluru, where the faithful gathered in prayerful support and thanksgiving.
The ordination was conferred by Most Rev. Arokiaraj Satis Kumar, DD, Auxiliary Bishop of Bengaluru, who, in his homily, emphasized the call to service, humility, and dedication that defines the life of a deacon. Drawing inspiration from the Word of God, he reminded the candidates that their vocation is rooted in Christ, who strengthens them in their mission, echoing the theme: “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13).
The newly ordained deacons—Br. Anmol Bara, Br. Bhushan Minj, Br. Mallikanti Ajay, and Br. Prasandeep Ekka, OFM—joyfully embraced their call to serve the Church. Clothed in liturgical vestments, they stood as visible signs of their commitment to a life of service, proclaiming the Gospel and assisting at the altar.
The occasion was graced by Br. Xavier Durairaj, Minister Provincial, Br. Santosh Ekka, Custos, along with several brothers from St. Anthony's Friary. Their presence added to the fraternity and joy of the celebration, reflecting the deep bond of Franciscan brotherhood.
This transitional diaconate marks a significant milestone in the lives of these brothers as they prepare for priesthood. It is a period of deeper commitment to service, especially to the poor and the marginalized, in the true spirit of St. Francis of Assisi. The Franciscan ideals of fraternity and minority—living as humble servants among all—remain at the heart of their vocation.
The celebration concluded with heartfelt gratitude to God for the gift of vocation and with prayers for the newly ordained deacons, that they may faithfully serve the Church and become instruments of peace and love in the world.
