Reception of Fifteen Postulant Brothers into the Order

A joyous and significant moment in the life of the St. Thomas Province was celebrated on June 20, 2026, when fifteen young men were formally received into the Order during a solemn Eucharistic celebration held at Punitha Anthoniyar Illam, the Postulancy House.

The postulants had arrived at the formation house on June 2 to begin their postulancy journey. The first weeks were dedicated to orientation, community integration, and spiritual preparation, enabling them to become acquainted with the Franciscan way of life and the expectations of this important stage of formation.

As part of their preparation, the brothers participated in a three-day retreat animated by Br. Peter. The retreat offered a grace-filled opportunity for prayer, reflection, and discernment as they prepared to take this significant step in their vocational journey.

The Reception Ceremony took place during the Holy Eucharist at 11:00 a.m., during which the candidates were received by the Minister Provincial, Br. Xavier Durairaj. During the celebration, the fifteen candidates were officially received into the Postulancy, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their Franciscan formation and their deeper commitment to following Christ in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi.

As these fifteen brothers begin this important stage of formation, we commend them to the loving care of God and ask for the prayers of the faithful. May they continue to grow in generosity and fidelity to the Lord's call, becoming joyful witnesses of the Gospel in the footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi.
